I decided to create a brochure of “Three Amazing Places to Visit and Explore” that I have personally been to. This project idea relates to my topic because instead of showing my followers places that I want to go to, or are interesting, I have shown three places that I have actually been to, and why they are so great. I was mainly inspired by a brochure that I saw in a airport that had amazing pictures on it of places to travel, and little descriptions of each one. I looked up some designs, and other brochures to see how they labeled and created their projects, and I took small bits and pieces from each. The significance behind my design is that these are all places that I love because I visited them with my family. It brings back old memory’s for me, and makes me appreciate where I came from. My design process was not all that complex. I started off realizing I wanted a nice, appropriate, background so I went to a free online background site where I picked one out. Next I added my three photos onto the background. I cropped the images to a desired size, added a stroke and a drop shadow to each. Then I edited each photo individually and either added brightness, contrast, etc. I put labels under each photo so you could tell which was which. Then a small description or my thoughts on each place. Finally I added the main title to the whole design, and curved the writing to give it a better look. Saved the whole thing, and posted it. I collected these photos by taking them with my own phone when I went to visit each place. My process was to keep in nice and simple, so it is easy to read and clear of the meaning behind it. I mainly used contrast and lighting editing, but also a lot of photo filters and format editing. My main challenge was editing my pictures then inserting them back into the design in the same form. I solved this by going back into the tutorial and realizing what I did wrong, and fixed it on site. The only tip I have is to not skip past the directions Photoshop gives you, read them and it will help you greatly.

I really liked the design of your brochure, the layout and font style you chose go very well together. The images and how they are placed really gives off that feeling of reading a travel brochure. Some things you might want to think about while working on your final draft is the color of the text. The text on the far left, about Downtown New York is a little hard to read. Maybe think about using a color that is a little darker like the other two blocks of text. Also, some of the name tags for each location can be centered a bit more, “the saint john cathedral” text looks like it’s a little high up. A strong feature you have going on in your design is that everything flows very well, such as the colors, images, text. Overall, you did a really good job for your draft of this project, I look forward to seeing your final design soon.

Hello Samuel! Your background really works to blend the design together and give the overall brochure a put together look. The places you visited are really cool and love how you chose to incorporate pictures you took yourself throughout traveling.
Some feedback to help you with your revision process to upload a new and improved version would be to possibly make the title of “Three Interesting Places to Visit and Explore” blend in with the wood in the background. As a reference you can refer to the photoshop tutorials where we worked with the crumpled paper and had the words “Design Incorporated” blend in with the paper. Adding this to your title will add a undeniable effect to your brochure. Another piece of feedback I feel like you can work into your brochure could be to possibly add a faded white backdrop under the texts where you describe the places you visited. To me, it doesn’t feel as easy to read it when there’s just the normal background you have underneath the descriptions. If I were to see this at an airport like you got the inspiration from, seeing a little something behind the descriptions would help me read it clearly and draw my eyes to the descriptions and not just the pictures you’ve provided. Also, for the Saint Johns cathedral and the Hollywood Tower Hotel, those are specific places and buildings meanwhile Downtown New York is a whole city. It would fit the theme if you were to choose a building in Downtown New York that you loved visiting and possibly have a picture of as well.
Overall your graphic design is off to an amazing start with how it looks as a whole.
