About my blog, and its future…

All my life I have wanted to travel and experience the world. But, at the moment I am in school, and need money to be able to travel. I mainly want to show places in my blog of where I want to visit in my near future. I am trying to get the best experience out of my life, and I feel I cannot say I have lived until I travel the world. Visiting different and more exotic destinations than the last. I mainly plan on getting the majority of my photos off of my friends, who have already traveled to these places. They always show and tell me how great the rest of the world is and I just want to share them with you! Later in the future, I will create a new logo for my blog, it will have a symmetrical look, as well as  colorful and vibrant features. If I learn fast enough, I will create a mini video with sound of exotic places to go and travel.

Below are links from my inspiration file:

Reflection Blog Post

My favorite project this semester was the logo design project through illustrator. I admire logo’s all the time because they are everywhere. And this was something that I really wanted to learn how to do/create. It was very interesting how illustrator worked and how you can create anything by morphing different shapes and using editing tools. I spent a lot of time on this project as it took me awhile to create the pineapple and surf board designs. But now I can actually say I created my own logo, which is pretty cool to me.

In this course I learned how to use photoshop, illustrator, audition, and premiere. I will actually use some of these as I am going into business, and these are all helpful tools that I can now take advantage of.  These all actually help for resumes as well because it shows experience and knowledge on the computer.

I plan on going into business management. And pretty much everything we did could possibly be useful for me in my future. My uncle was in business and he used photoshop and illustrator all the time to create designs for his business. So I am sure I could eventually be using these types of applications in my future for my job.

No, I did not wish I learned about another skill in this course because I really don’t know about any other ones. I would have enjoyed to learn more if it was in the course schedule, as I did with the rest of the assignments.

I actually used one website called unsplash which is a free to use website, and all of the pictures are very high quality. This was useful in my video story because I was narrating about the Bahama’s and I needed quality pictures in order to make my work look professional.

In the beginning of this class I wasn’t too sure if I was going to like this course as I am used to being in a classroom to learn. I actually tried to drop this class in the beginning but was too late. Now, I am happy that I did not. I really did learn a lot from this class, and it is actually useful stuff that I can see myself using in the future. This is why I like being in college as I am not just put into any random class that does not teach me any real life skills. Overall, this ended up being one of my favorite classes, so I thank you for that.

Final Video Story

For this project I have decided to create a slide show of the Bahama’s, while narrating in the background about what is going on in the slides. This relates to my course topic because the Bahama’s is one of the top places to travel in the world, and that is exactly what my course topic is about.  I was mainly inspired by videos that I normally watch on YouTube such as watchmojo.com and the richest, who talk about interesting real facts/topics and they narrate in the background on what is going on, and what is happening next. I actually had to do a lot of research in order to find information about the Bahama’s. I mainly researched about the history, origin, GDP, resorts, traveling, food, culture, and more.

The significance of the elements in my design is how I am creating my own short movie from different topics that I enjoy, and different scenes that encourage me to proceed throughout my project. My design process is not very long, because this is only my draft, but my final will take me much longer. I started off by researching about the Bahama’s and gathering information I thought was interesting. Once I got all of that I incorporated it into my own words and typed it into my notes so I could read off of it. I then recorded myself saying what I just typed out, which took me a couple tries as I wanted it to be perfect. I then transferred that onto my computer and into premiere. Once it was in, I edited all the parts where there is no narration or popping noises. Then, I went on a free to use website and found pictures that worked perfecting in my design. I put them in the exact spot of where I was talking about them in my audio, so that it is very easy to follow along and so there are visual images for you to picture with the narration. Once everything was in order I did a few tests and edits and uploaded it onto YouTube.

After I created my draft video story and seeing my peers versions, I realized I needed to make quite a few revisions. I was told that my images did not fit, my narraration was to loud, I had no sequences, and it really looked sloppy. After I reviewed all of that I completely started over, I wanted my final to be fresh and very professional looking. I kept my original narration as there was nothing wrong with it, but changed the volume. I then found new HD photos of the Bahama’s to use to get the best look for my project. I also added sequences to each slide so it is not as dull. Then I put in a title and a conclusion so you knew what it was about, and who it was by. And made sure all of my images fit the screen. The final thing I added was some silent background music to give my viewers a better and lightening feel as they watch.

I collected all of the elements in my design from free to use websites, and websites that had a lot of basic information about the Bahama’s. My process for constructing my project using premiere was basically using the razor tool and selection tool in order to cut my audio/media and being able to place them in their desired locations. I had a bit of trouble putting my images into premiere at first and I thought something was wrong, but premiere was just being very slow and sometimes didn’t allow me to click certain tools. Not really any solutions to that, I basically just waited until it would allow me again.

All of my images and background music were from free to use websites:

I know that my pictures are not fit to size and some are not easy to see but that’s because I wanted to give you just the basic elements of my design, so I can spend most of my time on the final product.

Final Audio Story

For this project I have decided to make a podcast, that basically talks and asks questions about vacation. This relates to my course topic because the only thing that is talked about, and will be talked about, in my podcast is vacations. I was mainly inspired by the podcast Radiolab, and how they have a nice introduction and stick to mainly one topic per segment. I mainly looked up a lot of different podcasts to find research on them, and gathered information from each and incorporated it into my audio. The significance behind my idea is how unique it is. It does not change subjects or talk in a other manner, it is simply about vacations and places to travel.

My design process was a little complex, but once I sought out all the details I needed it was quite simple. First I needed to get raw audio interviews. I did this by recording myself and another girl questions that involved vacations, and our responses based off of our own desires and thoughts. Next, I really wanted to incorporate music into my podcast so it is not bland and boring. I went onto a free to download website and started searching, until one caught my eye. I used that audio several times throughout my entire podcast. Once I had all the audio I needed it was just putting pieces together. I had to do a lot of editing, cutting, and rearranging. But after all of that I was very happy with the way it turned out.

I collected the audio of the interviews through my phone and sent them to my email to access them on the computer. The music was already on the computer, so all I had to do was download it. My process for constructing my project using adobe software was mainly just getting all the materials I needed into audition, and then figuring it out from there. The main tools I used were the razor, slip, time selection, and the audio sound changer. The main technical issue I had was getting my interviews onto the computer, because at first I had no idea how I was even going to record them, nor put them onto the computer. I found an app that allowed me to take audio, and right after send it to my email which made it fast and simple.

After receiving feedback from my audio group, I realized I needed to change quite a few things to make my final audio story the best it can be. First I really needed to adjust my volume levels. In some places they were to high, in others they were to low. I simply did this by moving the volume key up/down on my audio. Second, my introduction to speaking was a bit jumpy, so I combined my talking with the introduction music so it is easier for the listener. Third, a lot of my audio had pops in it, because I put my microphone to close to my mouth. I re-recorded a lot of my audio to ensure it would sound much better. The final thing I changed was adding in very light background music that I got on a free background music website. It made my final audio much better as there wasn’t just bland voices talking the entire time.

Overall, I am very pleased with the way my audio turned out. It is just the way I want it now, and it is something that people can actually enjoy listening to.

Raw Audio Footage

For this project, I have decided to interview people about topics relating to traveling. Where they would like to go in the future, as well as their favorite places they have already visited.
